Hello Everyone,
Last week, my boyfriend and I had the splendid idea to go to Montréal for the weekend. We figured, we could make it by car in a couple of hours and it would be a nice change, especially for him who never had been there before.
So on Friday afternoon we hit the road and we got to see a very picturesque scenery on our way to Canada. When we left Boston it was a decent day, with a decent temperature until we passed through Vermont! I couldn’t believe it when we found ourselves in the middle of a little snow storm… The scenery was great, but the roads not so much! Of course I was kind enough to let my boyfriend drive the entire way while I was admiring the warning signs of Bears or Moose crossing the lovely Highway.
Once we arrived in Montréal, the temperature was even lower than Vermont, including snow. Nonetheless, we checked into the Loewe’s Vogue Hotel where a beautiful bathtub was already awaiting me.
We then decided to go out and after realizing that Yelp wasn’t that reliable with information regarding open lounges, I had to walk various times in my Chanel flats in the snow until we reached the W Hotel.
We went to their lounge and not the nightclub, since the staff at Wunderbar (club) just seemed to be a little unfriendly and unhelpful. We had a lovely evening at Plateau Lounge and some very tasty food (I can strongly recommend their mini Burgers).
The next day we made our way to the “plateau” area to a very famous Brunch place called L’Avenue. Again, I had to freeze outside due to the popularity of the restaurant, but at least I was wearing my Chanel sneakers at that point and two layers of socks… so not so bad. But one thing I can say, it is worth the wait! The food was absolutely delicious! We had chicken and steak eggs Benedict and Nutella covered pancakes with strawberries… all I can say…. YUMMMMMMM! We eventually had a food baby and decided to walk to “Old Montréal” (about 40 mins of walking) to digest a bit. As a quick side note, if you guys ever go to L’Avenue, make sure to check out their bathrooms!
After completing some sightseeing, including a visit to the famous Basilica de Notre-Dame we had some wonderful tea in a traditional Chinese Tea House (right next to the church).
Later that night we had dinner at a restaurant called Bonaparte and it was absolutely amazing! We had a great waiter and amazing food! The tortellini from the appetizer section are to die for!
We later went to a bar close-by; Mimi la Nuit. It was great fun! Again the the staff was very friendly and we danced until the closing at 3 a.m.
The next day we went to have brunch at Barbounya, serving turkish food. It was once more, a great experience.
I can say that Montréal is amazing for dining! I had so many great experiences in this city and every-time I go there, I discover new, amazing places!
Of course we did more classic touristic staff by going to the Old Port, passing by the park and just walking around and admiring the beautiful
architecture of some buildings. But it was simply very cold!
I hope some of you will go and check-out some of the above mentioned places on your next trip to Monty and will enjoy it as much as I did!
With Love,
Isabelle
