The Dior Book Tote

As my recent poll on my Instagram account resulted in the wish of having a blog post about the Dior Book Tote – here we go:

I need to mention, that when the first Book Totes came out back in 2018, I wasn’t the biggest fan. The Dior shop in Zurich offered them to me when I was looking for the Dior Saddle bag, saying it was a “hot” new piece. Back then, I thought it would be too bulky and without any special kind of something – well I got proven wrong!

It happened, that while I was on vacation in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, I stumbled upon the Book Tote again. I went to the shop with my sister and brother in law since she had ordered some Dior clothes she had to try on, thus I spent my time browsing all the pretty Dior goodies. All of the sudden, my eyes fell upon the “one” bag and I immediately fell in love with it. Thinking back, it must happen been this beautiful pattern on the bag – with the right mix of colours. You guys know, my first saddle is in the Dior blue oblique embroidery and the first Dior Book Totes were the same but in red, black/blue. The Book Tote is quite large, so it was simply too much “Dior” going on for me (this is really just based on my personal taste – I love seeing these models on others though). So, this one book tote, with some hippie influence I would say, was just it! I had to get it – with the matching scarf! I mean, how special is this – no? I’ve never seen this bag on anyone else and the SA at the Dior boutique told me that it was a very limited bag, with only one piece left in Dubai.

I still tried on the other Dior Riviera Book Totes (I love pink, so I had to try the pink one which you can see on the pictures here) to compare – but my heart was beating for my “hippie baby”.

It has to be mentioned that the outfit I wore that evening really went with all bags I tried on. Whenever I see pink, I tend to fall in love – and well my bag has some beautiful shades of pink but also other light colours in it, making it easy to combine with a lot of outfit styles.

Some of you may wonder, what I think of the Dior Book Tote after having it for more than half a year. So here is my very honest verdict: I LOVE IT!

I am quite surprised as well, as I thought that the bag could get dirty very easily and lose its pretty shape. Also, the size got me worried a bit at first and its practicality therefore. However, the fabric is super resistant – I travel with the bag very often and take it to work. It fits so much stuff that I can easily have my entire life’s necessary items in it. I still have zero staining (no clue how that is possible) as of now as well. The bag is still an absolute stunner and I’ve definitely made the right decision to go for it. One thing that would have been nice, would be to have some inner pockets for the phone and keys.

Would I buy another one? Yes, I would! Certainly, I would pick the large size again since I have a lot of smaller bags, but time will tell. Maybe, I’ll end up getting the medium size at some point by my heart is still loving the large one.

The bag is so versatile and whenever I wear it (also with work outfits); it just glams me up in a very cool kind of way. I haven’t had my name stitched in yet and I may keep it this way. I like how I can turn the bag around and it doesn’t give away that it is a Christian Dior handbag I am carrying (some people will judge you no matter what).

Below you will find some more picture of my beauty. Yet to this day, whenever I take it out of my closet – even just to look at it – I get extremely excited about it. This must be love no? Honeymoon phase would be long over by now otherwise 🙂
